This month I was honored to form a part of soccer training camp held in Malta, Europe, organized by ‘’Talent Eleven Group’’ and led by Mr Andrea Albertoni and Mr Denis Guerra. This time they powered the event bringing in charge of the technical part – Mr Paolo Tramezzani, Italian born ex-soccer player currently assistant coach of Albania national team side. Mr Tramezzani played for teams in Italy, seria A, such as Lucchese, Inter Milan, Venezia, Atalanta and also had a spell at renowned English premiership team Tottenham Hotspurs.
Soccer training camp – Day 1
Group of professionals highly motivated to make the 5 days event for children aged 7-14 prepared training program to fulfill children’s desire to play and learn beautiful game of soccer. Program consisted of 2 hours session in the morning starting at 10:00am, lunch and brake for players and coaches, and second round of training and games finishing at 15:00pm. Training exercises and plans were prepared and laid out on the ground prior children were arriving to the training fields. Coaching stuff had morning briefing lead by Mr Tramezzani on how exercises will be conducted, developed and vary, according to players age and talent.
Every day, the main training objective was specified and progress through out the days adding on fluently more challenging tasks. On the first day objective was dribbling in 1v1 situation. Below, you can see a sample of the exercise.

Second day we progressed to 2v1 situation, creating opportunities from the different perspectives.

Third day it was 3v2 in different area of the pitch and various situations taken from the real game and put into the practice.
Soccer training camp – Day 4
Fourth day it was the time for shooting practice. Players were practicing and learning all types of shooting technique with and without the opponent.

On the fifth day players were tested in exercises which were abundant with coordination and specific motor skills used primarily in the soccer game.
Soccer training camp – Summary
Professional approach, motivated coaches transferring positive energy to their students, multitude of corrections in order to demonstrate to the child as much as possible the proper technical performance as well as encouraging creativity in every student, were the trade mark of the event from the technical point of view. Positive and enthusiastic response from children ready to participate and learn in every moment of the session was the award and satisfaction for the original aim of the event.
At the end of the last day players were given certificates signed by their coaches and group photo for successful participation in the camp. Coaches were awarded with standing ovation by their students and parents who were present in large number to support the event.
Greetings go to all the stuff at Soccer Club ‘Luxol St Andrews’ for their welcoming, worm and very easy going organisation of the facilities and technical support.
Definitely well worth experience and hope for many more to come with the same team.
Session 1
Playing area is 15×20 meters. Players are divided in two groups on the opposite sides. Frist player in red colour has a ball. Player in yellow colour jogs foot to foot sideways from cone to cone. Red markers are placed behind the yellow side in numbers 1,2 and 3. On coaches call one of the numbers, red player passes the ball towards that side. Yellow player receives the ball and 1v1 action starts aiming from both players to score by dribbling the ball through yellow gate in the middle of the end line.
Focus is on receiving the ball in unbalanced situation and taking the advantage from it under the pressure.
Session 2
Players are positioned in three groups 25 meters away from the goalpost with goalkeeper. All players are with the ball. First players from each group work together. Action starts with red player dribbles the ball and shoot to score, he turns to receive the ball and gives lay off pass to yellow player to shoot at goal. Green player passes the ball to one of the players from red and yellow to create 2v1 situation to score a goal. Player to whom the ball wasn’t passed becomes defender.
Focus is on shooting technique, team work and decision making in attack and defence.
Session 3
Playing area is 20×20 meters. Two small gates as goals are placed on both sides and one small goalpost on a defensive side. Players are positioned in triangle. Yellow players start as attackers and red as defenders. Action starts with players changing positions with in the same team, example clock wise. Yellow player who end up in the middle marker takes the ball and 3v3 action starts. Goal can be scored in any of the goals.
Focus is on reacting to the situation that was created. Attack the space that is created in advantage. If not create runs for through pass.
Session 4
Are in front of the goal with goalkeeper. Set of football placed on the cones to initiate volley kicks.
Focus is on volleying technique. Distance close to the ball, bend knees, body lowers down to hit the ball from sideways position to it. Kicking the ball in the middle to avoid sending the ball high over the goalpost.
Session 5
Area used 25x 25 meters. Players are positioned in four groups in four corners. Every group has set up to perform coordination at their station. First player from all groups dribble the ball around the cone and back, leaving the ball to the next player. He then continues to accomplish proposed exercise. After 4 minutes player are changing groups.
Focus is on dribbling the ball using different technique and correct execution of the exercises for coordination.
